Gov Fintiri Approves 48 New Housing Units For Doctors At Specialist Hospital Yola

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has ordered the demolition of the dilapidated doctors’ quarters at Specialist Hospital Yola to pave the way for the construction of 48 modern residential units for doctors, house officers and other healthcare workers.

Governor Fintiri announced the decision on Monday, August 10, after inspecting the existing doctors’ quarters at the hospital. He said the new accommodation would provide medical professionals with better living conditions and support improved healthcare delivery in the state.

The governor explained that the project forms part of his administration’s broader plan to reposition Specialist Hospital Yola as a teaching hospital, while creating a more conducive environment for medical professionals to work and serve patients.

He said construction of the new residential facilities would commence shortly and is expected to be completed within seven to eight months.

The redevelopment will replace the ageing structures with modern accommodation designed to meet the needs of doctors, house officers and other essential healthcare personnel attached to the hospital.

Fintiri said improving staff welfare remains an important component of strengthening the state’s healthcare system, noting that adequate accommodation and better working conditions can help attract and retain qualified medical professionals.

The planned development is expected to complement ongoing efforts to upgrade healthcare infrastructure across Adamawa and strengthen Specialist Hospital Yola’s capacity as a major medical facility in the state.
